William John Smilie (1895 - 1958) 
William J. Smilie, Sr., 62, a retired salesman died Wednesday morning at his home at 62U West Mulberry Street after about three years of failing health. He had been a salesman for the Minnesota Woolen Mills until he retired because of ill health.
He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was a member of the Presbyterian Church there. He married Miss Florence E Sluyter there in 1917 and they homesteaded a farm at Merino, Colo. She died at Merino in 1936.
He married Miss Madolyn M Boggs at Fort Morgan in 1938 and they came to Fort Collins in that year. William was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge there.
